kennetKenneth Kern founded Kenneth C. Kern & Associates in 1968 after earning eight years of Human Resources managerial experience with major corporations including Jefferson Chemical, Reed Tool and the Boeing Company.

A pioneer in Houston’s human resources industry, Kenneth C. Kern & Associates began as a sole proprietorship and steadily grew into a staff of highly trained and experienced recruiting professionals with a reputation for delivering exceptional results.

Ken, who has made a lifetime commitment to the executive search industry, is highly respected for not only his success but his philosophy of creating long-term relationships.  His genuine interest in his clients and their resulting success is evidenced by his enduring client relationships, many of which span more than 40 years.

Throughout the years clients have placed their trust in Ken, knowing that he and his staff of dedicated professionals will go the extra distance; interfacing on a personal level to fully understand the values and missions of each company and their assignments.

A graduate of Milby High School in Houston’s East End, received BBA and MBA degrees from the University of Houston and served as a Captain in the US Army.  Ken is a devoted “Coogs,” football fan, having followed the team since 1956.

Ken has held numerous leadership positions at his church, including Elder, Deacon, youth volunteer and has participated in local outreaches and mission trips.  He has also served on the boards of several professional and charitable organizations.

A recognized expert in executive search, Ken has won numerous top producer awards from the Texas Association of Personnel Consultants (TAPC) and the Houston Area Association of Personnel Consultants (HAAPC).  He was honored by his peers for outstanding contributions to the personnel industry as the recipient of the 2006 Locke-Mattiessen Award and has served as a board member for the HAAPC.

Ken enjoys family time, especially activities with his grandson Ryan, including hunting, fishing and shooting pool.  He also enjoys watching Ryan’s Lacrosse games at Episcopal High School and finds time to work cattle on the 2K Ranch in East Texas.
