The Settlements Analyst is responsible for the settlement of energy trades in North America and long-term contracts, invoicing external customers and recording accounting entries in the General Ledger.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that daily and monthly settlement tasks are successfully completed on time
  • Validate, understand and record accounting entries for month end accruals and invoices
  • Understand the energy markets’ settlement mechanisms and charge code algorithms to develop and maintain shadow calculations in Trade Capture Systems
  • Conduct research and analysis to remain current with market rules that impact settlement
  • Understand the corporate structure to allocate revenue and charges to the right legal entities with respect to the business strategies
  • Compile and validate regulatory reports for submission to a variety of government agencies in North America
  • Ensure accuracy in the trade capture systems by collaborating and working closely with Trading and Data Control departments
  • Collaborate with external counterparties to identify and resolve settlement disputes
  • Manage multiple tasks and/or projects in parallel with their day-to-day duties
  • Support Asset Management team members

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and quality of work
  • Ability to self-motivate and work on a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously in an ever-changing environment
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Capable of solving problems and using sound judgment in the decision-making process
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Advanced Excel skills (i.e. Macros, Pivot Tables, Visual Basic, Power Query)
